Sound Engineers

Sound Engineering Staff

As a live music event, the Woodchopper’s Ball aims to not only bring you the swingin’est bands around, but to present the bands’ music in the best way possible.  That’s why we use professional sound engineers–to make sure you experience the full richness, subtlety, emotion, and energy of every instrument and musician in the band in a tastefully balanced manner.  We hope that’s music to your ears!

Glen Earl Brown Jr.

With over 30 years of experience bringing the best sound to musical events and venues throughout California, Glen currently works both as the owner/operator of King of the Vintage Sound and through A-Town Agency.  He has also been a singer-songwriter and bass player for numerous Bay Area swing, blues, folk, rock, and country bands.  Glen brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to his duties as the regular sound engineer at the Woodchopper’s Ball since its inception in July 2017.

Carmen Caruso

As the owner/audio engineer/producer at Little Bird Studios, resident composer/sound designer at mobile games developer Tree Gem, and bassist/vocalist/songwriter/producer for the band Agouti, Carmen has the music and sound engineering experience to make any band sound their best.  Having filled in at the Woodchopper’s Ball in the past, Carmen now becomes a part of our sound engineering staff on a regular basis beginning in March 2019.

Gary Hobish

Currently the Owner/Mastering Engineer at A. Hammer Mastering, Audio Consultant at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, and Bass Player/Engineer with the band True Margrit, Gary has also worked at Cat’s Corner, Telescan, Skywalker Sound, Personics, CD Studios, and Fantasy Studios, and played in several bands, including The Jars, Pimpslap, Vicious Fish, and The Bonedrivers.  With his vast experience and knowledge in the music industry, Gary has already occasionally filled in as our sound engineer in the past, and he now joins our sound engineering staff on a regular basis beginning in March 2019.
